What is the Unemployment Benefit 

When an employee loses his/her job or is unable to work for a short period of time due to certain circumstances, s/he may be faced with a hard time financially. The Unemployment Insurance Fund (“UIF”) aims to help by providing unemployment insurance benefit payments to certain employees during their time of unemployment. 


How does it work
  • The UIF claim requires persons to meet five main necessities. 
  • The first is to gather all the essential documents.  The period of unemployment must be for more than 14 days. 
  • An application for unemployment benefits must be made within 12 months. 
  • Termination of services due to resignation or abscond you are not entitled to benefits.
